Rare Champagne's Rosé Millésimé 2012 is one of just four Rosé vintages the house has ever released (2007, 2008, 2012 and 2014), produced in genuinely tiny volumes and showing the precision and pure vintage expression that define the cuvée. Disgorged in 2021, the 2012 remains in the early stages of its drinking window, with meaningful scope for further development in bottle.

The 2012 Rare Rosé sits at the lowest entry point of all Rare Rosé vintages released to date, while scoring in line with the 2014 and narrowly below the 2007 and 2008. That combination of strong critic support and the most accessible pricing of the released set establishes a clear relative-value position within the house's own Rosé cohort.
Rosés from the top Champagne houses are consistently made in smaller volumes than their white counterparts, and that structural scarcity tends to drive price appreciation as stock is consumed. The current pricing of the 2007 vintage illustrates this trajectory, and the 2012 is well-placed to follow a similar path as it matures further into its drinking window.
Brand-level tailwinds reinforce the case. Rare's visibility has risen sharply on the back of recent award recognition and a forthcoming placement in British Airways First and Business Class from 2026, broadening demand at the moment when older vintages are becoming progressively scarcer.

The 2012 Rare Rosé Millésime… has developed gracefully. It opens with aromas of candied orange, apricot, cranberry and iris, mingling with buttered toast and a hint of smoky reduction. On the palate, it is full-bodied, elegantly muscular and beautifully balanced, with a crisp fruit core, ripe yet racy acidity and a pillowy mousse, concluding with a long, sapid and delicately perfumed finish …it is more complete and harmonious than the 2014 and is really just quite starting to show its cards.
Previously the prestige cuvée of Piper-Heidsieck, Rare was separated as a standalone label by owners EPI Group in 2018, much as Dom Pérignon stands apart from Moët et Chandon. Unlike Dom Pérignon, it is exceptionally hard to acquire and, until recently, was kept largely out of the public spotlight. Rare lives up to its name: the 2013 vintage marked just the 12th release since inception in 1976.
That rarity, combined with critic scores often on a par with the most famous Grandes Marques, makes Rare a distinctive proposition as global awareness grows. The house owes much to Champagne veteran Régis Camus, named IWC Sparkling Winemaker of the Year a record eight times, who retired as chef de cave in March 2022. It is now led by Emilien Boutillat, one of the youngest chefs de cave in Champagne's history, as Rare enters a new era.
